Broken Racket Labs, LLC/Knoxville, Tennessee
Ryan Hamby
builds things that ship.
Independent developer in East Tennessee. I run Broken Racket Labs, where I build native Apple software solo — design, code, App Store, support — with a cybersecurity background underneath it all.
The studio
Broken Racket Labs is a one-person software company in East Tennessee.
I formed it in May 2026 to put my own products into the world instead of pitching them to someone else. Everything on this page came out of it.
01
Design
Interface, identity, and the small decisions that make an app feel considered rather than assembled.
02
Build
Native Swift and SwiftUI across iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch. Written, reviewed, and shipped by the same person.
03
Secure
A cybersecurity background applied where it matters most in consumer software: data handling, privacy, and what never leaves the device.
04
Run
App Store releases, subscriptions, support, and the marketing around them. The unglamorous half of an indie studio.

Small on purpose. The advantage of one person doing all of it is that nothing gets lost between the people who would otherwise be handing it off.
Work
One product live, three more landing in Fall 2026.
Everything here comes out of Broken Racket Labs — native Apple software, and one imprint that isn't software at all.
Povalo
Pet wellness, tracked properly.
Medications, feeding, weight, and health history for the animals you actually care about — with a Watch app for the moments you are not at your desk. Live on the App Store. Named for and mascotted by Apollo, a cheagle with opinions.
Stringbed
A tennis tracker for people who actually play.
Match and practice tracking built around how a season really goes — logged from the wrist on court, reviewed properly afterward. In development at Broken Racket Labs.
Corvala
One wish list, everywhere you shop.
A universal wish list that follows you across every store instead of living inside one of them — native on Apple platforms, with browser extensions for everywhere else. In development at Broken Racket Labs.
After Hours
Broken Racket Labs // After Hours
What escapes the laboratory.
The apparel imprint of Broken Racket Labs. Numbered, limited, and closer to laboratory issue than to merchandise — the part of the studio that runs once the lab has closed for the day. First lots in Fall 2026.

About
The long way around.
I came to software the long way. I studied marketing and HR at the University of Tennessee, got one class from the finish line, and then a car accident put everything on hold. Years later a stage 2 liver diagnosis did it again. Both are behind me.
What I did with that time was learn to build. I picked up sixteen cybersecurity certifications through IBM, earned Security+ and A+, enrolled at WGU, and started writing software. In May 2026 I formed Broken Racket Labs and shipped Povalo to the App Store — design, code, marketing, and support, all of it mine.
I am currently looking for full-time work in cybersecurity, IT, or business operations. I keep building either way.
